Ishinryu means "all of one heart" and found it's roots on the outskirts of London. It was here that David "Ticky" Donovan OBE - 8th Dan started his first club.

It was under his instruction that Sensei Moira Barber progressed and then opened her own club in Grays, followed fifteen years later by the opening of Rainham.

She has now handed over the reins of Grays to Sensei Martyn Le Breuilly and Ockendon forms the third club branching off and is run by Sensei David Young.

Sensei Barber continues to run Rainham dojo and all three instructors work in unity to assist each other at all three clubs.

All three instructors have classes that range from age 6 to mature adults. Beginners are welcome to come down and take a look or join in straight away. Whether you want to take up karate as self defence, for competition or just for keep fit, you'll be made welcome
